AI built websites and AI Logo Generators: The most expensive “cheap” solution

I’m starting to notice a trend: a client comes to me frustrated. They had paid for an AI-built website, thinking it would be a quick, affordable shortcut. There’s definitely a site; it has the right pages and some stock images. Yet here they are, weeks later and nothing was happening. No leads, no calls, no real traffic. They’d assumed that because AI made it “fast and easy,” it must have checked all the boxes. But in reality, they’d ended up with a digital storefront that looked like everyone else’s, lacked personality, and failed to connect with their audience.

Small Business Owner looking up how to build a website using AI

AI tools are marketed as a one-click solution: drop in your business name, pick a style, and voilà; you’ve got a website. However, those AI builders are missing important elements that go into a successful website. Strategy, Consistency, and most of all, Trust. Customers can spot a generic template, and it doesn’t build confidence in your business. That’s why so many small business owners find themselves “back at square one” after paying for an AI-built website.

AI generated logo and AI generated Branding

The same is true for AI-generated logos.

Many small businesses think, “I just need a logo, it doesn’t have to be fancy.” But a logo isn’t just a picture, it’s a key piece of your brand identity.

AI generated logos often look generic or recycled (because they are) and fail to scale well across things like fliers, websites, signage etc. Running into these issues are the last thing you want when you’re ready to launch your business.

How your business looks to outsiders when you use AI: Generic.

AI pulls from existing data, which means you’re getting recycled ideas. Instead of building a unique brand, you end up looking like your competitors. Having AI build your brand or website is costing you more than just sales, it’s costing you credibility. Many business owners end up paying twice: once for the AI shortcut, and again to rebuild their brand or website properly when it doesn’t perform. That “cheap” solution becomes the costly one.

Now, I’m not saying AI has no place in the process. It can be a helpful tool for brainstorming copy, organizing ideas, or generating quick drafts. But it’s just that … a tool. Think of AI like a paintbrush. The brush itself won’t create a masterpiece; it’s how you use it that matters. A strong brand strategy, thoughtful design, and human creativity are what bring your website to life.
